Team Marre report from Lake Vänern

Hi Mika

Here is a fishing report from us in Team Marre

We fished Baggerud on February 28th and had fantastic fishing!
Totally we had somewhere around 30 bleak (löja) in VK-Baitholders that were attacked by hungry salmon.
We took four of the salmon home with us and they weighed 8.1kg, 4kg, 3.5kg & 3.5kg. We also caught and released four wild salmon and we estimate two of them were between 5-7kg and the other two between 3-4kg.

Best was VK-baitholder in gold chrome 10-25 grams on the planner boards and VK-2 flasher with Swedish flag chrome baitholder on the downrigger at both 20 & 35 foot. We had a very slow swimming movement on the baits a rotation of once every 3-4 seconds at a speed of about 1.6 knots

In the last four trolling trips we have had more than 6 fish over the legal limit each time and we thank VK products for that!

We strongly recommend that everyone tries VK products, we have and are very impressed and happy.
The next step for your baitholders and flashers for us will be migratory salmon in the Baltic Sea. If anyone has any good tips for using VK products in the Baltic Sea then drop us a line team.marre@telia.com

VK-Trolling release the New UV!

VK’s new UV color was released for the first time at the Finnish Boat Exhibition. This color has been a huge success with Finnish trollers and was the best selling color at the exhibition. In normal daylight this baitholder has a light green colour. When it placed under UV light it was a very bright green UV. This impressive new "Super" UV is also soon available in the new VK2 Large model.

Juha Salmela tested it for the first time in Sweden and after only a few minutes BIG FISH ON!

Popular VK rigging ways

This method has worked to catch hundreds of big salmon in the sea and lakes, so try it. Rigging the line like in the picture is one of most popular and powerful ways to rig VK. A tip is to place the hook down near the fish’s bottom, which will give you an impressive difference in the bait’s swimming style. Another very popular way of rigging was a lonely bottom hole on the top of the head. Both ways of rigging work fantastic together with flashers as well.

I got short report from Jocke about last december's succses in Lake Vättern.

"I´ve been to Vättern twice since the Lax Cup competition. We caught 9 salmon, two were a bit bigger, one 90cm weiging +9kg and one 88cm weighing 7,5kg. All the salmon took VK-baitholders, best colours were UV (different colours) and Watermelon Glow".

I got today report from Team Stream Christmas day fantastic triple. 3 Fish middleweight is incredible 10,33kg!!! and it was maybe somekind record?

"Fantastic VK fishing

I was out fishing on Lake Vänern on Christmas day outside Åmål with my friend Mats Olsson, we tried our new VK bait holders and the VK 2 flasher on the downriggers. There was a lot of baitfish on the fish finder and we could observed a fish rise from 17-18 meters going up to the downrigger baits, probably taking a good look on the UV248 VK2 flasher and after a short while after this, less than a minute, the reel started to scream high. Fish on! Mats faught the fish and after 30 min we could take a good look at the fish in the boat. It was a big trout of 95 cm length and 10.1 kilo. It was a personal record for Mats and the fish took a VK bait holder clear UV100, line in right side centre hole. We quickly turned back and after passing the spot where the trout took our VK bait - a big fish is on again, this time I’m holding the rod. The fish was all up in the air 3-4 times and gave me a fantastic fight, almost jumping over the planer board line at one time. After a while we could bring it in the boat, nice 9,3 kilo Salmon with a length of 87 cm, perfect condition. VK bait holder named SS03 "PLO" with line on left side centre hole on the surface with 30gr lead. Then after a few hours later with no activity we were just about to stop for the day, another big fish is on. Mats are fighting the fish, after a long fight we can lift it in the boat. We could see it was a wild Salmon - we quickly took out the hooks, in order to release it back in the water. We made a quick weight of the fish still in the net - after reduction of the net holder we could determine the final weight to impressive 11.6 kilo. Before it was released we took one quick photo. This time the Salmon took VK Baitholder chrome 734, inner left hole, surface with 20 gr lead.

We are both impressed of the VK products, all the different ways to do line settings in the VK bait holders and colours will help us to catch fish. We could see on the fish finder several times when a big fish raised from bottom or elsewhere to start follow and look at the VK2 flasher on the downriggers, we a pretty sure the attractive movements of the VK2 flasher was the main reason!

"Another VK-Victory"

Janne Fettenas JUL LAXEN 2008 competition was held today, which was the Swedish year's coldest day for trolling. The morning temperature was 17 degrees below zero, and inspite of the cold and ice 17 brave hearted boat teams took part. Their goal was to catch the biggest fish in the competition and win this years title of Jul Laxen Champion. This year's winner was Team Sportfiske Akademin with team members Lollo, Lilleman, Krille. Their winning fish was a salmon that weighed 5.96 kg. The fish was caught using a watermelon VK Raksi bait holder, and Lollo says that was the bait that worked best today.

Hi Mika

As you know our team consists of 6 members and on Saturday we had our own team competition. We were 3 boats and we fished Brommö NV in Vänern. The rules were simple, only VK products were to be used. The results were great!

Cameron’s boat took 6 salmon giving them a full pot and 1st place. Best was the down rigger at 30ft with a small silver taped VK flasher and a Stensson colour bait holder. The biggest fish they caught was 85cm long and weighed 7.8kg.

Leif’s boat took 2nd place. They had 4 salmon in the cooler, 5 under size and put back a wild salmon around 80cm. Best for them was UV bait holders. They started the day with a double header that gave them 2 immediately in the cooler.

Peter’s boat took 3rd placing. They had 2 salmon in the cooler and 4 under size. Best for them was a VK baitholder that was painted black with one small white eye on each side. In Sweden this is called a “Bullens”. Their biggest fish was also an 85cm long salmon That weighed 7.1kg

As you can see the results were very good. Between our 3 boats we took home 12 salmon and nothing but VK baitholders and flashers were used.

It was a great day on Lake Vänern yesterday! Me and my friend Tomas went out for a pleasuretrip in Mellerud. The total catch was 4 fish in the cooler and one small and a couple of lost ones. All fish took on baitfish with VK-rax, the two bigger fish took the UV-purple head on the downrigger at 24 feet. The rest of the fish took on VK-rax coulor number 737 with 10-20 gram lead on the surface. The fish was 6,0kg 6,5kg 9,12kg and 9,37kg. I am really impressed of the variety of action you can give your baits with these heads. I wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year and of course a great next season on the water!

Laxcup Vättern

The competition for me together with Ove didn’t go as well as hoped. We unfortunately were not in the right place at the right time. It seemed the salmon were in very small spots and we didn’t find those spots. On Saturday we had lots of strikes resulting in many small fish. On Sunday we lost one good size salmon just before netting. That is fishing :-)

I would like to thank Ove and Dan, I had a very nice trip with them and they are both real professionals. It was a very good experience to fish with them.I would like to congratulate Team Scandinavian Sportfishing/Predator for second place. They have my friend Eric as one of the crew and they caught 3 nice salmon on Saturday and all took VK-Baitholders in the UV blue colour. Thanks for tip, we had that good size salmon on Sunday on that same colour baitholder. On Sunday they caught 2 more salmon and took second place in that competition. Nice work, well done!

Hello Mika.

Here is a fishing report.

Fished Åmål yesterday (9th december) with a friend, and after several smaller salmon and a legal salmon trout caught on a (Vk raksi 737), A big salmon 9.84kg (control weighted at home) and 92cm had put teeth in a shallow fished Bleak caught in the Vk-raksi color Steénson. I used the middelhole on the head and had a small Action Disc 5cm before the head. It was a great fight and I had a lot of fun during that time..

Vk-raksi works great!!!
