We went home yesterday from our Swedish trip, and now I feel a little tired, because of "jetlag":-) I want to thank all of my Swedish friends for a nice time and specially Petter "Salmonseeker", Cam and Blydonkern for absolutely fantastic fishing time in Lake Vänern. We caught 7 salmon over 60cm on this four day trip, but four of those were wild and therefore must be released. We also lost some good fish, but that is part of fishing. Our "Haukimaster" is Me this time and I caught a +5kg and a +7kg pike on my side:-(
Tomorrow I start to my short visit to Sweden, with My friend Tapsa. Last year in that same time I was fishing the fantastic Lax Cup Vättern competition with Ove & Dan from Team Extreme's who are real professionals. This Year I get the possibility to go fishing for a couple of days with Petter "Salmonseeker" Larsson to Lake Vänern and then my friend Cameron from Team Hooked has offered us the opportunity to fish with him and Norwegian Tomas "Blydonkern" Silden in the new Lorents Marin Competition. VK-Products is one of many sponsor of that competition and we made that decision because sounds that it is a good and fresh idea that a whole 100% of the registration fee used to buy smolt to be released into the lake the competition is held in. We also want to support better fishing on future in this my personal favourite lake.
My friend Tomi sent me a report about last Sundays 4.7kg sea trout. The fish took a VK-baitholder using the top hole rigging and adjusted to have a very slow rotation. The trolling speed was about 2,7kn. On their first trip about a week ago they lost a big +5kg trout just before netting and got some undersize trout and one brutal strike. All with VK-baitholders at hi-speed.
Team Hooked/Marre won Sweden's Kållandsöträff competition today. It is a three day competition in lake Vänern. They were using VK-Baitholders and caught 5 nice salmon. Report is coming.

Today we had the Yövesi meeting in Lake Saimaa in Finland. The fishing was difficult and of the nineteen boats that participated only four of them caught salmon. We had a minimum size for salmon of 60cm and trout 55cm in this competition/meeting. Normally the minimum size in Yövesi is 50cm and the size under Finnish law is only 40cm for those fish! All the boats released a lot of undersize fish.

I saw this news on fullpott's blog. This was was the biggest salmon ever caught in the 25 year history of Sunnanå Competition / Nordic Championship. It took a VK-baitholder..
I got a message from Patrik Lindell, they had fantastic fishing success in Lake Vänern.
Today Team Kirri won the Finnish Lake Salmon Fish Championships. They were using VK-baitholders and on the first day they caught two really nice salmon. The total weight was 6,934g Team Kirri also came 3rd in the three boat team competition. They caught both salmon on our Gold green violet color VK baitholder.

Congratulations to Team Toby which won the Volvo Fishing Club Vättern competition today by weighing in 4 fish. They also won the whole Volvo Fishing Club tournament!
I just got message from Keijo Korhonen .He told me, they won couple week ago Urho trolling competition using baitfish with VK-Baitholder. They caught nice 5460g/78cm salmon. Fish took 15 meter deep of downrigger. Strike color was own painted yellow/orange/chrome tiger.

Team Siivikkala caught huge salmon in Helsinki competition in baitfish. They using another baithead label than VK but get our full respect. Fish is only 115cm long!
Finnish Champions Team VK-Trolling 2
Finnish Champions Team Känkkäränkkä (Marko Suppala & Jari Kataja) Their prize was a Yamaha 9,9hp outboard motor. They also won Sunday's best team prize, Yamaha 2,5hp outboard motor.
Today they caught 2 salmon their weights were a 13.390kg & 13.590kg
Team Taavila brothers took victory in the Lake Saimaa, Yövesi Salmon King Competition. They caught a nice salmon weighing 7kg and 86 cm long. it took a fluo orange/black painted VK-baitholder on the side planer with a 50g weight. There were 70 boats that competed in the competition.
Team PoPo Joni & Hannu caught a couple of nice salmon and one trout today in the Finnish Gulf. All the fish took VK-baitholders and biggest one took the bait with a VK2 flasher. The salmon weighed 11.7 & 8.1kg and the trout 4.3kg.
Team Satunnaiset saaliit Sami sent me a picture of this salmon that they caught today outside of Kotka on the Finnish Gulf . The fish weighed 12.5kg and was 101cm long. It took a green, yellow chrome colour VK-Baitholder. . Congratulations, well done!
I got some pictures and short report today about a big salmon that was caught last weekend.
Now we stop. We did't catch any fish here today? Later I heard about one small salmon being caught here, and Vesa only caught one small and had one strike.
In Åland it was also very quiet fishing day, but our Team member Antti caught an 11kg salmon on the new color "klunssila" VK-Baitholder. The fish took the planer with a 4g weight. Antti was using the center hole with fast midsize rotation. Speed was 2,2kn. Our other friends Team Salmomatic had a very strange experience, because they had a good salmon strike in Åland and they were fighting with that. After a few minutes into the fight the "salmon" took a huge run and almost took all the line on the Amb.7000 reel. They were fighting with that "salmon" a long time before they saw a huge seal that took the salmon and kept it in its mouth. The story ends with the line broke and the seal stole their very good size salmon and VK-Baitholder:-)))
This spring a very hot new VK color was Gold series 770 "Klunssila", it caught many salmon during test fishing. This new very powerful Baltic Sea and Vänern color is gold chrome with fluo yellow top/fluo lime green side and orange nose. Available on our webshop.
I just got a call from Team Salmomatic (Toni & Tero) who is fishing Åland today. They just caught a salmon 10,32kg and 16,2kg on VK-Baitholders. (New Personal record) Both took big rotation swimming, color "lapinkulta" and green/blue/chrome.
Team Känkkäränkkä ( Suppala and Vänskä) Took a absolutely fantastic victory in the Åland Trolling Competition!

Tomi & Crew took again today a big salmon from Simris. The weather was again very difficult, because of hard wind. The fish weighed 13.2kg and was 110cm long. It took the downrigger at 35ft on a Fluo green/Fluo Yellow-Chrome VK-Baitholder with clear VK2 flasher. We were also fishing with that guy, and his boat took this week 4 big salmon, which weighed 15.3, 13.2, two weighing 11.00kg. All of those took VK-Baitholders.
The biggest fish in the 2009 Kinnekulle Competition. It was caught by Team Hooked/Toby and weighed 10.95kg. Congratulations!!!

A couple of nights left before we start to our trip to the Kinnekulleträff competition. We are fishing with Röda Baron. After the competition we move on to Simrishamn for a couple of days fishing with our Finnish friends. I am excited and longing for that spring fishing, because it was many years ago when I last had the possibility to fish Sweden in the spring time. Hope the weather is good this time! See you there:-)
I got mail today from Martin "Röda Baron" Sethman. He tell they got again big salmon with VK-baitholder. Huge fish weight 11.08kg and was 95cm long.
I saw today Team Hammarlund's blog this picture. They got today 101cm salmon and VK-Baitholder color "steenson" hanging on the mouth. Congratulations:-) I hope we get short report;-)

Team Hooked fished Vänern yesterday. We are members in the trolling fishing club FK Trollspöt and it was their first club competition for the year. We were 13 boats and the fishing was anything but easy this day. We caught seven under size fish, but also two that we could weigh in at the end of the day. The smallest was a salmon that weighed 5.76kg and took a chrome 733 baitholder. Our other fish was the biggest fish caught in the competition and weighed 9.75kg. This monster took an SS01 "Swedish flag" baitholder and put up a great fight. We of course fished with nothing but VK products and they delivered the results, we won the competition ;-)
Team Hooked won today FK-trollspot's 1st club competiton from Lake Vänern. They caught 2 nice salmon. Biggest fish weight 9.75 kg "secret of the victory" was a VK-Baitholder.
I saw today news for big salmon. Last year Bornholm winners Team API caught today pretty about 9,5 kg Salmon. Fish took baitfish with VK-Baitholder.

VK’s new UV color was released for the first time at the Finnish Boat Exhibition. This color has been a huge success with Finnish trollers and was the best selling color at the exhibition. In normal daylight this baitholder has a light green colour. When it placed under UV light it was a very bright green UV. This impressive new "Super" UV is also soon available in the new VK2 Large model.
This method has worked to catch hundreds of big salmon in the sea and lakes, so try it. Rigging the line like in the picture is one of most popular and powerful ways to rig VK. A tip is to place the hook down near the fish’s bottom, which will give you an impressive difference in the bait’s swimming style. Another very popular way of rigging was a lonely bottom hole on the top of the head. Both ways of rigging work fantastic together with flashers as well.
Last spring many different Finnish teams caught lots of fish and had top results in Simrishamn using these "taiga" colors. Both glow and chrome worked great as well. Remember these:-)

Janne Fettenas JUL LAXEN 2008 competition was held today, which was the Swedish year's coldest day for trolling. The morning temperature was 17 degrees below zero, and inspite of the cold and ice 17 brave hearted boat teams took part. Their goal was to catch the biggest fish in the competition and win this years title of Jul Laxen Champion. This year's winner was Team Sportfiske Akademin with team members Lollo, Lilleman, Krille. Their winning fish was a salmon that weighed 5.96 kg. The fish was caught using a watermelon VK Raksi bait holder, and Lollo says that was the bait that worked best today.
These same guys also caught one that weighed 5.2kg, and a few days ago they caught a salmon that weighed 7,2kg. All 3 fish took VK-bait holders.

Jonas Björk send me report from 9+ salmon what he caught from lake Vänern.
VK-Products release the new bigger model VK-Salmon 2 Flasher. The new model is 24cm long and has many good strike colors. During testing this season in Finland this "Secret Weapon" produced excellent results. Just like the smaller model it has superb irregular movement causing fish to bite more often.

I got a mail from my friend and charter fisherman Mika Pihlaja who just had a guiding fishing trip on Lake Puulavesi. They took two really nice salmon 5,5kg & 6kg. Both of them took the same VK-baitholder glow color 840. Both fish took the bait on the surface without any weight at all. His customers were extremely happy.

This year's European Champion Sami Heiskanen also won this weekend The Lake Vuohijärvi Trolling Competition. It was a two day competition with 115 boats. Sami and his team caught four salmon with a total weight of 8.175kg. Every fish they caught was on the side planers with a 30g sinker. The right baitholder for the day was the VK-Raksi colour Purple Black Chrome, which was the right recipe because all the fish were caught on that. Congratulations.

Team Virolainen Wins Finnish Trolling Championship 2008 in Lake Inari. They caught salmon trout to a total weight of 13.7kg and won the competition by a large amount of points. VK-Baitholder with Gulpbait/Baitrix was the winning concept. Their biggest salmon trout weighed 6.2kg and was the competition’s second biggest fish. Congratulations to the VK-Team.

Team Satunaiset Saaliit won The European Trolling Championship this year. For the first time ever they used the new VK-baitholders during the competition and took all 5 of their fish on them. Congratulations
Antti Rautio and his team caught this big 15.6kg salmon during the European Trolling championship in Helsinki this June. It was the biggest fish caught in the competition and it took a baitfish in a VK-Baitholder on the surface. The competition's second biggest fish weighed 15,1kg and was also caught on a VK-baitholder behind a VK-flasher. It was Vesa (European Champion 2006) from the VK-Products company that caught it. Vesa also caught the biggest sea trout for the competition. VK users won almost all first prizes in this year’s European Trolling Championship, including the competition’s daily prizes for days 1 & 2 and the prize for President Salmon Trophy (First fish in the competition over 10kg), and a big percentage of all salmon in the competition came from VK-Baitholder, including the two biggest salmon and sea trout on competition. 
Lake Karijärvi from Jaala in Finland had their trolling competition in May this year. Here is a picture of the winning team that caught their fish on VK-baitholder. The fish they caught was a 8kg salmon. The winning VK-baitholder color was number 725.

Team Pandalook
Teams using VK-Baitholders took both 1st and 2nd positions in the Åland Trolling Competition in May this year. Team PoPo1 won the competition and Team Pandalook took 2nd position. Both these teams weighed in large salmon caught on VK-baitholders and other VK-products. Team Popo1 reported that apart from catching a lot of big salmon during the competition, they also caught a lot of big salmon in their training days including a monster salmon weighing over 17 kg.
